This is a song written by Aaron M. Kean. He's lived in our home since my Traumatic Brain Injury. He wrote this song for our family. I can certainly relate to the animals, insects and birds in this beautifully written song. And I am the one who 'hides away' Listen to Aaron sing to BRAIN INJURY SURVIVORS! What can you relate to?
My eyes are filled with rain
And thunder clicks my bones
You don’t understand so I hide away
You’ve only read just one page
There’s a whole story to be told
You’re looking at me through the glass
A lion behind its cage
But I hope to leave here soon
My heart’s a child running fast
With a smile on his face
But my thoughts are growing old
I feel like a bird stuck two feet on the ground
The touch the taste the cool of the clouds
I twist I bend I swing but I couldn’t fly for the life of me
With butterfly wings stuck in a cacoon
Waiting to burst, break out into the blue
I push I claw I scream but the way to fly
Is a faded memory
Get up and try again, was it all in my head
But from the very start, all you need is your heart
One day I’ll fly again, just wait until you see

There’s something about the world today
The colors seem blurred and grey
There’s a picture fading black
You don’t understand so I run away
It might be crazy but I pray
That you’ll be here when I get back
I need you there to guide my way
Your words can fix the fray
Broken records put on track
Now let the melody lift my wings
Into the sky a bird Ill sing
Ill try not to live too fast
